Hello, i wanted to know what good power supply could i use for an 480 and a 6700 im currently using a 750 psu with a r9 280 and a i5 3470 should i buy the same psu? or is a 500 - 600 watt one enough?. I just got a decent pc last month, and realized that the graphics card is not as great as i hoped. i was looking at the rx 480 to play games at 1080p with good framerates. the card looked perfect until i realized it was recommended to have a 500w power supply, and i only have a 400w.. Amd, rx 480, and the notorious sig. modern gpus draw power from two sources — the pci express slot itself, and one or more pci express connectors attached to the back of the card..
Amd radeon rx 480 - on your average system the card requires you to have a 450 watt power supply unit as minimum. if you are going to overclock gpu or processor, then we do recommend you purchase. Please check my thread here.some reviewers are indicating that the reference 480 is pulling too much power off of the pcie slot, 10 w or so more than spec.. My computer won't boot at all when the rx 480 8gb is plugged in and has power connection. the fans are running, but nothing else happens. when the pc's power button is pressed, it turns off immediately..
